Der Auserwählte
So wie es aussieht, wird unser Container doch etwas Verspätung haben. Er wurde dazu auserwählt, geröngt zu werden. Ich habe gestern folgende E-Mail bekommen:
Your shipment is estimated to arrive in Oakland Port on 6/25/2006. Please be advised that your shipment has been selected for VACIS (Vehicle and Cargo Inspection System) exam by US customs.
At this time approximately 80% of the ocean shipments are being pulled by U.S. customs for inspections. A VACIS exam is an x-ray of the container. We have no control or estimate of when this exam will be performed. It all depends on customs, the number of containers they have selected for VACIS and their labor availability.
Furthermore, in addition to the VACIS exam, customs may select your shipment for intensive exam (opened container physical examination) after the VACIS has been performed; most of the times, only the VACIS is performed, but again, we have no control over customs decisions.
Please note until the customs exam(s) are completed, we won’t have the customs release and therefore the delivery to your residence will be delayed.
Naja, dann wohnen wir noch ein bißchen in der Enklave. Gestern hatten wir sonnige 98°F/37°C. Das ist für diese Jahreszeit ziemlich heiß, der Rekord für San Jose liegt bei 101°F und wurde 1989 gemessen.
